From Purpose to Profit: Building a Community-Driven Brand That Lasts

April 10 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am CDT
What does it take to turn a personal passion into a sustainable business?

Join us for an honest, behind-the-scenes conversation with Mila Clarke, The Hangry Woman, as she shares how she transformed her personal brand into a purpose-driven company focused on helping people with diabetes build confidence and knowledge around nutrition and self-management.

She covers topics such as diabetes management, food, cooking, and self-care from the perspective of someone living joyfully with the condition. With a background in communications and marketing, she brings insights you’ll want to learn from.

She recently launched Glucose Guide, a first-of-its-kind nonprofit diabetes coaching platform, complete with a mobile app designed by someone living with diabetes.

Mila knows how to activate a community and has grown her app into a business. She shares what it takes to navigate monetization, community building, and the realities of doing it all solo.

This is a story about what works, what doesn’t, and what it takes to build something meaningful that lasts. If you’ve ever wondered how to go from an idea to a purpose-built business, you won’t want to miss this one.

In this session, you’ll learn:

  • How to evolve from a personal brand or idea into a scalable business with products and services
  • What it really takes to monetize a passion project (and stay financially sustainable)
  • Where AI fits, and doesn’t fit, when building authentic communities
  • How timing, including launching during COVID, can unexpectedly accelerate growth
  • The realities of running a business as a team of one and how to make it work
