2025 SMBHOU Gift of Guidance

Make a difference this holiday season and learn something new at the same time!

On December 12th, the Houston Social Media Breakfast will meet with 10 local nonprofits to help them with a strategy to use social media for their charity. Eligible nonprofits receive pro bono advice from SMBHOU members with the goal of collaboratively developing an actionable, micro social media plan. Together, nonprofits will learn how to hone their social media approaches, tools, and technique while this working session allows SMBHOU members to give back to the community by sharing a special gift that only they can give – their expertise.

If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference this year, come to the event and help us help others! No special skills are required to volunteer— you only need a willingness to learn and share. As a bonus, you receive access to a social media strategy method you can use for your own 2026 social media planning! It’s a win-win! Right now we need volunteers for the following roles:

  • TABLE LEADER – The table leader works with the chosen nonprofit to create a mini social media plan, based on a template that we provide. You will lead the discussion and coordinate with the table scribe to deliver a notes document after the event. Get more info and sign up!

  • SCRIBE – The scribe is a critical position! Use your computer and take notes of the recommendations made during the event on a template that we will provide. Send the notes to the nonprofit right at the event. Get more info and sign up!

CALLING NONPROFITS

The nonprofit application is open until Sunday, October 26th. If you are a local nonprofit who hasn’t been a recipient of the Gift of Guidance program in the past, we encourage you to apply. And if you know of another great nonprofit who could benefit, please have them apply too! Get more info and apply!

🚗 Parking: Red Lot – Enter 4203 Fannin Street into your GPS for directions directly to the red parking lot, located across the street from the Ion. This lot is for guest and event parking. Complimentary parking for up to 3 hours.

Ion District Parking Garage – Enter 4111 Fannin Street into your GPS for directions directly to this parking garage, located a block away from the Ion. Our garage is available to all tenants and guests of the Ion and Ion District. Complimentary parking for up to 2 hours.

🥐 Breakfast: Enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast and coffee.
